Public Holiday in Spain – Workers’ Day
May 1st was instituted as International Workers’ Day in commemoration of the repression suffered by the workers of the McCormick factory, during several days in April and May 1886, in the city of Chicago. At that time, the U.S. worker’s working day could be extended to 18 hours.
